Dottie Mucha: 3x3 Art Squares

We have 10 (9+1 extra) very creative 3x3 squares from Dottie Mucha in Connecticut. On a side note, before Steve and I moved to Florida in 2010, Dottie lived across the street from us! She started participating in creative swaps with me in 2007 and also took some of the mixed media classes I taught at my home studio in CT.

When I opened Dottie's mail, I knew that her art squares were different. It took me a minute to figure out that they were made of two 3x3 cards that opened. I am really in awe of what Dottie created for our swap. I have a number of photos to share with you... First, the fronts of her squares. The 2 cards are held together with the square leaf clip.

Next, you can see how when you remove the clip, the cards open...
and there is a surprise inside that pops up!

I think these are very special. I would have never thought of doing something like this. Dottie told me about them. She said, "I've been playing a bit more with paper engineering and made an online friend during Covid. She is very talented and shares her work in weekly tutorials. She makes a living from her work. Her name is Kathy Clement; Kathy by design is her blog. I used a couple different techniques that I learned from her."

Thank you so much Dottie!
