Vicki Page - prayer flag swap!

These prayer flags are from Vicki Page in Wisconsin who has done a dozen Creative Swaps with me -so talented! So glad to have you participating again Vickie. I would say no worries -You are definitely getting back into your creative groove!

Below shows how Vicki did the back with a plain lining -very beautiful! 

Vickie made an extra Prayer Flag for me which is so very lovely. It will be a hard choice! 

Vickie traced the images onto fabric and then colored and heat set. 

The beads and bells are fantastic!

12x12 Fabric technique swap #2: Vicki Page, Wisconsin

The second swap entry for our one-for-one 12x12 mini quilt has come in from Vicki Page in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin - WOW!

The theme for this swap is exlore a new technique and recycle. Vicki folllowed Frieda Oxenham's instructions on how to create a fabric paper collage when making her 12x12 quiltie, and the results are so lovely!

Forest Quilties SWAP!

I am here to announce both the winner of the most creative forest quilties and to let you know they are all swapped, packaged & labeled - Ready to be mailed, tomorrow!

It again was another hard choice to pick the most creative entry for this swap, but one participants' quilties stood out more than the rest to me. Congratulations are in order to Vicki Page in Wisconsin. She has won the most creative entry with her beautiful set of wool forest quilties! I have gathered together a bunch of fabrics (including some wool) that I hope she will enjoy, and added this prize pack to the quilties Vicki received in trade. I have never seen anything like the quilties that Vicki created for our swap! You can see them below along with all the other wonderful quilties on a forest theme that came in for this swap. Shades of Sunshine Quilties: Vicki Page ~ Wisconsin

From Vickie Page in Wisconsin, 5 quilties for our Shades of Sunshine Quilties Swap . . . . 1 extra for me -wow! Vickie used wool felt for the bottom & covered it with fancy fabrics in fiery colors. She quilted them and then very carefully burned some of the areas -the darker, jagged edges.

Vicki Page from Wisconsin has sent in 5 lovely, lovely shades of spring/Brown & Blue Quilties, oh my! The felt and the stitching, the fibers for the nest . . . the cute little felted bird - I adore these quilties - Thank you, Vicki!

Vicki wrote me an email where she explained her process: "These quilties were made by painting muslin with a shiney white paint then adding two different colors of glitter. Then is used some different mesh or tulle fabric ironed on some wonder under then ironed that on top of the painted surface. The rest of the quiltie was made from some old antique laces that I've collected at auctions, flea markets and antique shops over the past 5 years. Just love the stuff! Once I got into the box of my old laces I couldn't believe how much of it I had. Must have a addiction for the stuff! Some of the laces are also new, and some of it I tried tea staining and coffee staining. Just playing around but sure enjoyed it. I saw this technique in one of my magazines so had to give it a try."

Creative Bag Swap: Vicki Page

This creative bag is from Vicki Page in Cottage Grove, WI. I think both the bright fabric & the bamboo handles are faboo! Vicki has also done some beading, she's added fibers, plus she's made a Velcro closure on the inside top of the bag. I just found her email where she told me more about creating this bag:

"The purse I made is a pattern from Amy Butler then I added my own spin for the handles. The design on the purse: I used different yarns using a fabric spray to glue them down put washable sulky over the top and sewed a graph across the yarns to catch all of them. Then washed the sulky out and added some beads. The theme I used was "Under the Tuscon Sun" hopefully you see that within the beaded design of the purse and the fabric I choose."

The winner is . . . Vicki Page!

It was very hard for me to pick a winner as so many of the fabric bags that were sent in were so creative! Scroll down to the next post to see an amazing slide show of all the bags!

With much pleasure, I am chosing Vicki Page for the most creative bag sent in for our swap. Her bag is incredibly beautiful and shows an amazing amount of work! She quilt-pieced (I think that is best how to describe it) and sewed and embroidered and embellished and put a lot of thought into her bag. She calls it a Japanese inspired bag and the Japanese word you see on the front of the bag means 'Artist'. The small green butterfly to the left of the Japanese woman represents the human soul, and the koi fish she appliquéd onto the other side of the bag means 'fearless'. Well done, Vicki!

I am giving Vicki a shoulder bag I decorated : ) It was once a plain black bag. I added layers of paint, mostly Lumiere, then textured the paint with tools, stamped on top of that . . . and then added an image from artchix studio with alphabet beads which spell out, "let go". Fabric Bag Swap - Vicki Page, WI

From Vicki Page in WI a very wonderful Japanese inspired purse!! I literally gasped when I pulled Vicki's bag from the box! If you click on the photos you will be able to see more of the beautiful patchwork, decorative machine stitching in gold thread and hand embroidery Vicki did with beads. Vicki has also added a tag to her bag that explains that the butterfly she sewed on (green stone, next to the image of the woman) represents the human soul, the Koi fish she added to the other side of the bag represents fearlessness, and the Japanese writing on the bottom of the bag translates to 'artist'. There are even gold bells on this bag!

What more can I say? I think by looking at the photos, which are never quite as good as the 'real' thing, you will still agree that this is an exceptional piece of fabric art! Take a look at the back of the bag:

Mother Goose ATCs - Vicki Page, WI

From Vicki Page in WI come a series of amazing fabric & clay Mother Goose ATCs with a theme of Peter Peter Pumpkin eater! Vicki used the Alpha Stamps fabric sheet Peter, Pumpkin eater and layered her fabric on top of a cardstock base. She used decorative leafy stitching and also some sort of sculpty or primo clay (?) to create pumpkins & vines! see below - click on any photo for more detail.

Garden ATCs - Vicki Page, WI

I received some wonderful ribbon embroidery ATCs from Vicki Page in Wisconsin today, wowser! You all continue to amaze me. Each set of ATCs is different and so beautiful. Thank you *all* for putting your best effort forth and making this such a great swap!

As I think some of you know, I will be away from my computer for the next 10 days or so . . . . please continue to send in your swaps as my mail will be safely held for me until my return. You do need to deliver your fabric ATCs for the Garden swap to me by July 31st in order to have them be part of the swap! Don't miss out - let that dealine drive you to create, if you have not already.
