Wil Opio Oguta: mail art swap!

From Will, who lives in the Netherlands, 4 beautiful stamped and textured envelopes have made it to my mailbox this week. Her mail art set is complete! I want to say I am really sorry if it worries you that ALL your envelopes do not arrive on the same day or near each other, but unfortunately I have no control over that. It is the quirks of the post office, I guess. I have no idea why when 3 envelopes or 4 envelopes are sent on the same day, one arrives 3 days later and it takes another one 10 days. My best advice is to try to mail early and keep the addresses as easy to read as possible. Here are some photos I took of Wil's Mail ART. Please visit her blog for more details on how she made and stamped her envelopes.

Thanks, Wil!!

Shades of the Forest Quilties - Wil Opio Oguta, Netherlands

From Wil in the Netherlands, we have a lovely set of 4 Forest Quilties plus an extra one for me -thanks ever so much. Will has incorporated beautiful photos of forest mushrooms into her quilties, as well as leaves and leaf charms. The fabric colors and Wil's stitching is superb! I like the fibers on the edge too. Great job, thanks for participating again! To see more of Wil's fabric art, click on her name at the bottom of this post.

Shades of Sunshine Quilties: Wil Opio Oguta ~ The Netherlands

All the way from the Netherlands ~Wil Opio Oguta sends us 4 orangey-red and yellow 'sunshine quilties'. Yeah!

Will used dimensional items like sequin waste, silk flowers, and bees (fabric ones!) and she also employed various stitches and free motion quilting. Just lovely, thanks Wil, for sending from far away!

Shades of Spring/ Brown + Blue Quilties: Wil Opio Oguta

From the Netherlands, Wil Opio Oguta has created 5 Shades of Brown & Blue Quilties, making 4 for the swap, and an extra one for me. Thank you so much! Will has been in Minneapolis attending an 8 day Shibori symposium, and so she got to save on postage & mail her quilties to me while she was here in the US. Click on any scan or photo for a bit more detail on all her lovely work!

White Quilties! ~ Wil Opio Oguta

From Wil Opio Oguta in the Netherlands I have received my first swap pieces for the Shades of White Quilties swap due here in CT on or before April 26th. Wil is definitely working ahead and I am so happy to have her in my swap!

As you can see from the close up, it could be hard for me to capture your shades of white. At first I scanned Wil's quilties (above right) but I wasn't satisfied with how it looked. The scanner seemed to pick up the silver threads in Wil's white fabric too much - so I took a photo instead, below. Click on it for a close-up view. This is sure to be a great swap!
