Nancy Roberts: By the Sea ATC swap

From Nancy in Florida we have a set of 3 ATCs: "Seaside Reads". The almost monochromatic look was a surprise to me at first, but then I decided it was so appropriate for this Vintage woman by the sea. Nancy enclosed a note describing how she created her ATCs, which I will share with you below.

Materials & Methods: (1.) Watercolor on Media paper for the backgrounds (2.) Security envelopes (3.) glitter & glue (4.) Hand sewn, beaded sequins!

This is Nancy's 9th swap with me. Thanks for joining us, Nancy. I love your take on the theme! Note: You can always view the images larger by clicking on them. ;O )

Keep those ATCs coming! It's so great to see them.
Remember, they are due in my hands by June 24th. That's 1 month!

yours creatively, lenna

Nancy Roberts - Inspiration Collage

Nancy's collages arrived yesterday -Jan 7th, thank you! Nancy wrote me a note saying she had a lot of fun even though she has not done a lot of collage so far. She told me she certainly has enough "stuff" to add to what I sent. So great! I have just discovered Nancy's own post on her own blog about making them so I am adding a link to her blog as there is a lot more description there :-)

Here is what Nancy created!

I spy a postage stamp and a mesh bag I probably sent.

"Express Yourself" - Love this! I must admit it is one of many wrappers
I saved from a dark chocolate Dove mini.
The old design of wrappers seem to have better words!!

I love seeing the mustard colored paper with the swirls.
Most everyone received a bit of this. Fits perfectly here.

Nancy also made an extra collage for me, so sweet!! The quote is one that I produced as a LennaLines quote stamp many years ago. Thank you so much for this Nancy and the extra interesting textured papers you sent, I am really glad you were able to join in with Creative Swaps again!

Play, discover, dream, glue, paint, create!

All collages due in my hands Jan 30th - thank you!

Nancy Roberts -Prayer Flag Swap!

Wow! We are back from our trip to Canada/wolfe island and there are 7 swap packages that
arrived while we were away. If you are wondering if your package has arrived, please check the list here. I use it to mark off the received packages as they come in.

First up, we have 3 really wonderful prayer flags from Nancy Roberts in Florida. Nancy is a fabulous quilter who has participated in many creative swaps with me. Here is what I received from her:

I love the one below made with sheer fabric and ribbons . . .

Below, I love how Nancy used paper beads, perhaps from our previous swap? I used some paper beads on one of my flags too! Click on any photo for greater detail.
Then Nancy was so kind and enclosed a bag of goodies for me! I love little inspiring bits like this from someone else's stash, perhaps leftovers of what they have been working on . . . thank you! I scanned the goodie bag on top of an interesting magazine picture she enclosed . . . Nancy said it made her think of the studio photos I've shared of my work desk. So great! It is sure to be put to good use.
Nancy has written about making prayer flags in 2 separate posts, here: More prayer flags: Somebody stop me! and also here: Prayer Flag Practice. Give her a visit! Thanks again, Nancy ; 0)

Nancy Roberts: Bead Swap!

Nancy's beads have come in and they are lovely. View all of Nancy's beads below.

Nancy was worried after seeing some of the other entries, should she have bagged her beads individually? You can do that if you like, but you don't have to. Nancy labeled her beads individually (in a great way). That is all you need to do.

Nancy has added wonderful instructions to her blog on what her beads were made of and how she made them - please visit Quilting Potpourri to read all about these lovely beads! For providing instruction, Nancy's name will be put in the drawing to win a selection of my handmade beads!

yummy!

Nancy also sent a gift of an extra piece of unusual fabric with writing - she said she thought I would know how to use it! that made me smile. Also, some extra beads she made combined with some from her stash, thank you!! Hostess gifts are not necessary, but it is fun for me & I do appreciate this if you have time and are so inclined. If not, I perfectly understand. Sometimes all you can do is to get the swap in the mail, I've been there!!

Please visit Nancy's blog!

Nancy Roberts: Postcard Mail Art!

Nancy Roberts, who lives not too far from me in Florida, has made three awesome postcards for our swap combining fabric, paper, sewing - photographs and gesso. Not all on the same card! Let me share with you what she's done -please click on each photo if you would like more details.

Above, is one of Nancy's altered photograph postcards,
using a gorgeous photo of what she calls "rainbow beach".
This is where she used gesso - go to her blog to read more!! I have to try this ; ^ )

Below are 2 of her fabric/fusible batting on one side - paper on the other side postcards:

Please visit this post on Nancy's blog to read more about her process for these.
Thanks so much Nancy for your great mail art and all the lovely goodies you enclosed.

Nancy Roberts: vintage note card swap!

Yesterday I also received a fantastic package from Nancy Roberts in Florida. This is her first creative swap, so we welcome you! I think you will love her cards. Nancy said she had a lot of fun making them . . . so much so that she created 2 sets, or 6 cards/envelopes in total. If you remember, I said this was perfectly okay as long as you either enclosed $2 for the extra postage or sent it via paypal, which Nancy did. She also enclosed for me a little bag of beads and tiny double-leaf gold charms, my favorite. Again, thanks so much Nancy!

so beautiful . . .

lovely lace & stitching!

All the envelopes were embellished beautifully like this one

I adore all the stitching on paper Nancy did -
before she added it to the front of the card!

I can't get enough of seeing the different ways
you are all presenting this woman.

Excellent job! I am sure your cards will be very well received!
You can read more about them here on Nancy's blog: Quilting Potpourri.

There are 10 spots open in the vintage note card swap
( if you are still thinking about joining! )
Due in my hands February 26th, 2011.
