12x12 Fabric technique swap #3: Jolande van de Beld, The Netherlands

What a wonderful surprise was in my mailbox yesterday from Jolande van de Beld, from the Netherlands! This is the third arrival out of an anticipated 40 arrivals, for our 12x12 mini quilt Fabric Technique swap. Jolande enclosed a note which I will quote:

Dear Lenna, Thank you for this swap! I had so much fun creating again after several months. As a theme I have chosen Franz Schubert, the composer. I love his music! For a long time I owned some music fabric, that's how I got the idea of making my quiltie about the composer.

I have used several techniques as I printed on a piece of cotton fabric (ink jet printer), attached this on the back of the quiltie. The music stamps i have used so many times and still love them. I never had used stamps on fabric, but with your instructions, it was much fun to do. I had to order versacraft stamping ink in the USA, because I could not get it here in the Netherlands. I have included some leftover fabric for you. Looking forward to see the other quilties on your blog. Hugs, Jolande xoxox

Shades of Sunshine Quilties: Jolande van de Beld ~ The Netherlands

Jolande was new to making quilties this year, but I can tell she is really enjoying the process . . . in the note enclosed in her package, she writes "I hope you will soon announce new quiltie swaps!"

In the Netherlands this summer, Jolande also had a lot of rain, but she wrote that she had fun creating these shades of summer quilties with all the bright colours -- livens up a grey, rainy day!

Thanks to Jolande for everything, and so glad your quilties arrived here in CT nice and early this time. : ^ ) yay!

Shades of Spring/Brown-Blue Quilties -Jolande Van De Beld

This is a late posting . . . but the mail was late! This post shows Jolande's Brown & Blue quilties that she mailed from the Netherlands, in what should have been enough time to get here . . . . but, unfortunately her package did not arrive by July 19th when the swap was due. I gave her a couple of days grace because she has always been on time with her swaps, but the package did not arrive and I had to go ahead and swap out before leaving for vacation. In my absence though, her package arrived - about a month after she sent it!
Before it even got here, one of our swap participants, Joanie Hoffman wrote me an email saying she really thought Jolande's Quilties would show up eventually, and that she would be happy to create another Brown & Blue Quiltie to swap with Jolande. Wow, so kind! So we left it -when the quilties arrived, we would discuss! Jolande's lovely Quilties got here about August 5th -when I got home I let Jolande & Joanie know. Joanie made another Brown & Blue Quiltie to trade, which I received today . . . I will send one of Jolande's to Joanie tomorrow. I swapped 2 of Jolande's quilties for 2 of the extra quilties I had collected from the swap - I will send these to Jolande along with Joanie's quiltie, and I will also send Jolande one of her own quilties back to her with the 3 different ones. Phew, this sounds complicated, but it all worked out after all!

~Unbelievably, I have now caught up with all the swap packages that were waiting for me when I returned home August 9th and all the packages that have arrived since!! Still ahead: Finishing swapping the Itty Bitty collage swap and announcing two new swaps. I have not forgotten, just trying not to work too hard ; ^ ) yours, lenna

White Quilties! Jolande van de Beld

Ahhhh, we have received . . . . TULIPS with our shades of white quilties, from Jolande van de Beld in The Netherlands! When I first announced the swap, Jolande wrote and said she had never joined a fabric swap or made quilties before, but she thought it sounded exciting & wanted to join! I gave her some info and off she went . . just look at these wonderful quilties Jolande made!

In her package to me Jolande included a note that said, "I have ironed tulips in the middle because those flowers are surrounding me this season. I live in a part of The Netherlands where you can enjoy fields of bulbflower this time of year. As I told you in my e-mail: it was so much fun to make them!"

Thank you Jolande, for participating in something new from a far, and for the extra Quiltie & fibers for me! Lenna
