Forest Quilties - Susanne Wiebe, Victoria BC

Wow, I just discovered this is Susanne Wiebe's 10th Creative Swap! Thank you Susanne, for all the wonderful art that you have contributed; you are incredible! I believe Susanne participated in EVERY 'quiltie' swap I have ever hosted, plus fabric ATC swaps, fabric bag swaps and more! She is a very talented and creative participant. Her friend Beverley Teichrob often joins the same swaps as Susanne and so they have the fun of encouraging and enjoying each other's work before sending it off to me in CT, usa! (smile)

In fact, it was Susanne who suggested a 'shades of the forest' theme in a note to me a number of months ago. I was thinking of a greenish-color wave for the next set of quilties, and Susanne's idea completed what I was looking for. Thank you, Susanne!

Susanne's quilties are like the quote she used, printed on fabric and added to her fabric squares: LUSH and GREEN. I know this is Susanne's favorite colour! A collage I created for Susanne, at Beverley's request, can be found on my art blog.
I tried to create something very green and forest like when making this collage for Susanne and after receiving it, she told me she loved her gift from Beverley that I had created for her.
****

The shades of the Forest Quilties are due in my hands in less than 2 weeks of this writing - November 29, 2008. I have received about 1/3 of the swap entries. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest!!!

Shades of Sunshine Quilties: Susanne Weibe ~ BC, Canada

Susanne Weibe from beautiful Victoria, BC has sent in 2 sets of 4 -plus extras, for our shades of sunshine quilties swap. And what a lot of beautiful shades and textures she has sent!
Yes, managing these swaps can be a lot of work at times, and also take time to do . . . but receiving beautiful creative pieces like this and being able to share them with you is really one of the highlights for me. I just never know what you are going to come up with and it is often very exciting! It also means the world to me when I hear from you via email or a note, just how much being part of the exchange means to you -thank you.

Anyway, back to Susanne's quilties. They are varied, colourful, and simply make you gasp! (at least I did when I opened her package). Susanne wrapped one quiltie especially for me:

Here to your right, is one of the beautiful quilties wrapped up for me in some sheer fabric I will be sure to put to use - it's just wonderful, Susanne! Here are some more photos . . . remember to click on any photo for more detail.

Shades of Spring/ Brown + Blue Quilties: Susanne Weibe

Susanne Weibe from Victoria, British Columbia sent in two gorgeous sets of quilties (8 total) and a wonderful little giftie of fabrics & velvet leaves for me, wrapped in a sheer leafy drawstring bag -Thank you, Susanne!!

Take a look at Susanne's wonderful work. The colors and stitching are top notch. I love how she did the backs of the quilties with the birds . . . .

great job! oh, I almost forgot --Susanne enclosed a note with her quilties! "I love gardening and my favorite season is spring. Victoria has been dubed the City of Eternal Spring. Due to it's moderate climate, spring comes very early. Soon into the new year we peer at the dark soil for the first shoots of daffs, tulips, crocuses and hyacynths."

Shades of spring, yes indeed!

Grimm fairytales 5x5 Collage swap: Susanne Weibe

This is the BACK of one of Susanne's Alpha Stamp Grimm Brothers' 5x5 collages! Isn't it cool? I just love it : )

Susanne is from beautiful Victoria, in British Columbia, Canada. She wrote me a note thanking me for another delightful swap, adding that she fould this swap thoroughly enjoyable, bringing back memories of childhood fairytales.

Susanne's collages are wonderful. She started with a sturdy piece of watercolor paper for her base and then sewed fabric & images from the Alpha Stamps Brothers' Grimm collection to her base paper. Because she started with watercolor paper she was able to easily paint the backs of all of her collages before adding her info. She also used fibers and dimensional elements. I think Susanne's collages are beautiful *and* very mixed-media! What fun. Thank you, Susanne. Wonderful art as always! Click on any photo for more detail.

Yay! More wonderful ATCs for our Alpha Stamps Mother Goose Swap have come in from Susanne Wiebe in BC, Canada. As an aside, you may not know that I had applied for, and have been accepted as an Alpha Stamps Design Team Member! More info in a recent post on my creativelenna blog. Alpha Stamps carries so many great images and products, I am very proud to be a member of the design team! From the Alpha Stamps Blog: "If you’re not familiar with the term, a “Design Team” is a group of artists who get free art supplies — and some other perks, including access to a private group area to share ideas — in exchange for creating sample artwork and helping with marketing efforts." : )) Do you think I might be able to use free art supplies? Would I enjoy creating sample artwork?? You bet!

Back to the Alpha Stamps swap -- below are ALL of Susanne's Mother Goose ATCs - click on any picture for greater detail. Susanne used images from 'Quite Contrary #1', 'Humpty Dumpty # 2' and 'Queen of Hearts #3' - available through Alpha Stamps. Great job, Susanne! Many thanks.

Fabric Bag Swap - Susanne Wiebe - BC, Canada

Susanne Wiebe sent in this really COOL bag she made for our fabric Bag swap -- Susanne knitted, felted and sewed her bag! It has a fabric lining, fabric handles, and a pocket. I love that Susanne enclosed a note in the bag describing that this was a "well-travelled" bag . . . . She writes, "The wool for this handbag was purchased while vacationing at Ocean Shores, Washington. The knitting was done in Seaside, Oregon, and it was felted in Victoria, BC!! On the front of the card there is even a piece of the wool she made the bag with! Click on any picture for more detail.

The photo below shows the card, the inside of the bag (it has a zipper pocket) and the matching eyeglass or sunglass case Susanne made - wow! Thank you, Susanne.
