Vicky Martindale

It is with great regret that I share with you, one of my long-time swap participants has passed away. Vicky Martindale suffered a stroke Christmas Day 2010, then fell into a hemorrhagic coma where she remained until her passing yesterday. Vicky had participated in many of my creative swaps, her last one being the Mail Art swap in December. You may have a piece of Vicky's art in your collection. Lori Lee, a good friend of Vicky's, had let me know earlier this year that Vicky was in a coma. Lori also passed along a site where I could sign up for updates on Vicky's status. Today, I sadly learned that she passed away late last night.

Vicky was a participant in my swaps since at least 2004, maybe sooner - I don't I have a record of my earliest swaps. To honor her, I have put together a slide show of her swap art from 2004-2010. She created some wonderful pieces and was very prolific. I think I can safely estimate she was involved in 15-20 of my art swaps, always supporting me and sending kind words. I did not know her very well, as we did not email each other much, but I will always remember her art and her kindness with love, lenna

BLESS YOU for doing this, Lenna!

I cannot tell you how much it means to me and I just know that Vicky is smiling on us now knowing that we are enjoying her work once more!

Thank you for your wonderful posting and this memorial in her honor ~ thanks to your wonderful record-keeping, her wonderful work will now continue to inspire others as it has for me for so many years.

I know Vicky loved participating in your swaps through the years. Thank you for providing a wonderful place for her to be inspired and creative and to "dream", which is a word she so often used in her work!
Always, Lori Lee ~ Pontiac MI

What a thoughtful way to remember Vicky. Having her work shown together allows those who did not know her to get a glimpse of who she was. Rest in peace, Vicky.

I didn't know her, Lenna, but it is very sad. John Donne, the English Poet wrote *No man is an island unto himself.....any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind
and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls
it tolls for thee. *
Hugs, Valerie

Such sad news, Lenna. Vicky was clearly a wonderful artist. It seemed appropriate that the last image on your sweet slide 'show' was an ATC stamped with 'forget me no.'

Thanks to you she will not be forgotten.

A lovely tribute to a wonderfully creative woman. I am so pleased to possess one of her Alice ATC cards. Your slide show reminds us of her splendid work and also of the fun we shared in those swaps. This is another fine aspect of all swaps but especially yours, Lenna: like Vicky, we are forever alive in the collections of our swapmates!
