Gosh, I don't know what I was expecting, but I am amazed at what the participants are producing for this swap. Pam Gonzalez: bead swap!

Over the weekend I received an envelope filled with both beautiful soft and jewel tone fabric and paper beads from Pam Gonzalez in Illinois -thank you, Pam! She included a note that explained how she had made some of her beads from fabric she had handpainted -cool! Some of her beads were made from paper with bits of ribbon, and some of the beads she painted with Lumiere paint, one of my favorite paints! Take a look below and click for more details.

Your beads are wonderful, Pam! I like all the variety you achieved. Your name will be entered in the drawing for the extra beads hand made by me. Thanks for labeling yours all so nicely and for the extra bag of trims, plus a few extra beads for me, very sweet. Definitely tell your friends about creative swaps, I would welcome them in our next exchange!

I have also received Sabine's beads from Germany today and will open the package and upload hers tomorrow . . . plus I've heard that more packages are on their way - due to me by Saturday!

I'm really enjoying the beauty and creativeness I've seen so far in this particular swap and look forward to part II where we take our swap beads and create something!  ; ) lenna

Becky Sunderman: Bead Swap

My answer to Becky's email that said she hoped I'd like what was coming my way is - very much like what came my wayBecky sent in 3 different types of paper and fabric beads, each one with brief instructions included in each individual clear bag, cool! Below is a close up of one bead out of it's bag.
Becky created some beads from a recycled tyvek envelope . . . .

Some beads were made from cloth and wire . . .
and some were made from catalog pages and tulle!

There were 20 all together!
thank you, becky!

I will add your name to the drawing for some extra handmade beads :)

Nancy Roberts: Bead Swap!

Nancy's beads have come in and they are lovely. View all of Nancy's beads below.

Nancy was worried after seeing some of the other entries, should she have bagged her beads individually? You can do that if you like, but you don't have to. Nancy labeled her beads individually (in a great way). That is all you need to do.

Nancy has added wonderful instructions to her blog on what her beads were made of and how she made them - please visit Quilting Potpourri to read all about these lovely beads! For providing instruction, Nancy's name will be put in the drawing to win a selection of my handmade beads!

yummy!

Nancy also sent a gift of an extra piece of unusual fabric with writing - she said she thought I would know how to use it! that made me smile. Also, some extra beads she made combined with some from her stash, thank you!! Hostess gifts are not necessary, but it is fun for me & I do appreciate this if you have time and are so inclined. If not, I perfectly understand. Sometimes all you can do is to get the swap in the mail, I've been there!!

Cat Dodt-Ellis: Bead Swap

Our 3rd entry for the bead swap is from my friend Cat Dodt-Ellis in Idaho. I must say as these beads come in I am more and more impressed with them! Beautiful, creative, imaginative . . . and so far, all beautifully packaged for this swap. Individually labelled as requested! Thank you all! With 21 of us participating, I am sure you will love your swap returns. A reminder: Due in my hands March 24. Now on to Cat's beads and packaging . . . Cat sent me this picture in advance . . . before she packaged them up!

Below, how she lovingly packaged them.

A close-up

out of the package -

Beautiful!!

I was spoiled by Cat . . .  with mail art . . .

. . . and a necklace she made for me:

Under the glass is the image Cat used on a skinny page for me

Since she knew I loved this image
she sent the charm/necklace along with her beads.

Thank you ever so much.
Your beads are fantastic, so glad you are in this swap!
There are more detailed photos of Cat's bead on her flickr account.

Trish Busby: Bead Swap

The second entry for the bead swap has arrived and this one is from Trish Busby. I will share a few photos I took below, but please visit her blog Art Anomaly to read more about how she created these wonderful beads! Trish has more photos and notes on how she made her different beads . . . which means her name will get added to the drawing for an extra package of handmade beads from me!

Here's one bead - Trish made her own individual plastic bags
by cutting larger bags & sewing them up - ingenious!

click for more details - there's so much variety here.

Trish made great tags and packaged her beads individually with a flair!

She made an extra bead for me!
This is the one I chose, Trish. Thank you.

The beautiful mail art was also truly appreciated!

Go visit Trish!  I so look forward to receiving the rest of the beads. Due in my hands 3/24.
